A Remarkable and Exceptionally Rare Collection of New Year Blessing Letters by the Leaders of the Previous Generation – One Thousand Years of Torah and Holiness in the Autograph Signatures of the Greatest Torah Sages - An impressive and exceptionally rare collection of New Year blessing letters, handwritten and signed by the foremost Torah leaders of the previous generation—the leaders of the Lithuanian, Sephardic, and Hasidic communities. New Year blessings by: Maran Rabbi Elazar Menachem Man Shach, Maran Rishon LeZion Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the Rebbe of Seret-Vizhnitz, Maran Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, and others. Land of Israel, 1960s. Throughout the generations, handwritten documents of the great Torah sages—and especially their autograph signatures—have been held in special esteem among the Jewish people. Such letters were preserved as sacred objects, passed down from generation to generation, and regarded as amulets capable of bringing blessing, salvation, and success. The present collection brings together the blessings of the leading Torah authorities from every branch of the Torah world—Lithuanian, Sephardic, and Hasidic. In each letter, the sage personally conveys, in his own handwriting, blessings for the New Year: health, livelihood, success, redemption, Divine assistance, inscription and sealing for a good year, and every possible blessing. Contents of the collection: • A beautiful New Year greeting card in the handwriting of the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Betzalel Zolti: “A Gmar Chatimah Tovah, a year of redemption and salvation, and the exaltation of the Torah and its scholars.” • A blessing letter by Rabbi Shmuel Baruch HaLevi Werner, Av Beit Din of Tel Aviv: “A good and blessed year, filled with the blessing of Hashem, health, light and joy, Divine assistance, and complete redemption.” • A blessing letter by the eminent Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Michel Feinstein: “A Gmar Chatimah Tovah and kol mili de-meitav.” • A New Year blessing letter by Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer Meshkovsky, Rosh Yeshiva of Kfar Chassidim, in his own handwriting and signature: “Gmar Chatimah Tovah.” • A New Year blessing letter bearing the autograph signature of Rabbi David Povarsky, Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevezh: “May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.” • A letter by Maran Rishon LeZion Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, containing four handwritten lines concluding with the blessing: “May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year, and may all be well forever.” • A blessing letter by Maran Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, bearing his autograph signature, with the blessing: “Gmar Chatimah Tovah.” • An especially early letter bearing the autograph signature of Maran Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Elazar Menachem Man Shach, among the earliest known letters from him. The original envelope bears his address from that period: “Rabbi Shach, Jerusalem, Kerem neighborhood.” “Gmar Chatimah Tovah.” • A New Year blessing letter bearing the autograph signature of the holy Rebbe Rabbi Moshe Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz: “May you be inscribed and sealed in the Book of the Righteous immediately for a good life.” Specification: Nine letters of varying sizes, most retaining their original envelopes. Overall condition: Very good. If one were to add together the lifetimes of all the great Torah sages whose signatures appear in this collection, the total would approach one thousand years of Torah, holiness, and Divine service gathered into a single collection. An entire millennium of Torah leadership, Torah study, prayer, and blessing—brought together in one remarkable assemblage of New Year blessings, written and signed by the leaders of their generation.
