Chassidic teachings on the weekly Torah portions and festivals, by the renowned Rebbe Rabbi David of Talne. Lublin, 1882. First edition, published during the lifetime of the holy author. The work was prepared for publication by the Rebbe himself during the final year of his life. He passed away on 10 Iyar 5642 (1882), and the book was printed early that same year. In his introduction, the author explains that these teachings were delivered every Shabbos ”since G-d appointed me to guide the congregation of Israel on the path of righteousness, binding them with a strong and enduring bond to fulfill the will of our Father in Heaven.” He also explains the title of the work, noting that it serves as a memorial to his late son Mordechai, whose name alludes to the sanctity of Shabbos and the verse ”He speaks peace unto all his seed.” As is well known, the works of the Talne Rebbe are exceptional in that they were written, edited, printed, and published by the Rebbe himself. Rabbi David of Talne (1808–1882), the sixth son of Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl and a disciple of Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta, first served as Rebbe in Vasylkiv. Following persecution by the Russian authorities, he relocated his court to Talne, which became one of the major centers of Chassidism in Ukraine. 86 leaves. 22 cm. Two title pages.
