Siddur Derech HaChaim – Comprehensive and Elaborate Edition with Numerous Rare Additions. Vilna, 1898 - Seder HaTefillah im Derech HaChaim, together with Tikkunei Shabbat, Beit Rachel, Nehora HaShalem, Likutei Tzvi, and the two renowned commentaries Kavanot Peshutiyot and Kavanot Yesharot. Vilna, 1898. A substantial and wide-ranging edition of one of the most comprehensive prayer books printed in Eastern Europe at the close of the nineteenth century. The volume contains the complete liturgy for the entire year, alongside a rich treasury of supplementary works intended to accompany the worshipper throughout the Jewish calendar. In addition to the prayer services, the volume includes a Passover Haggadah, Selichot, the Book of Psalms, Tikkunei Shabbat, Beit Rachel, Nehora HaShalem, Likutei Tzvi, and numerous other additions. Also printed are the Twenty-Nine Spiritual Virtues (Tesha Ve-Esrim Ma'alot) and the two sought-after commentaries Kavanot Peshutiyot and Kavanot Yesharot. A noteworthy feature of the present copy is the inclusion, on the final leaf, of the rare text “Seder Simchat Beit HaSho’eivah”, a leaf not found in the copy preserved by the National Library of Israel, adding bibliographical interest to this edition. An especially impressive volume, among the larger and thicker siddurim printed in Vilna, reflecting the publishers’ ambition to gather within a single binding the full range of prayer, study, and customary practice required by the Jews of Eastern Europe.
