Vilna, 1867. First edition. The first edition of one of the most important foundational works in the teachings of the Vilna Gaon and in Kabbalistic literature. The volume contains Tikkunei HaZohar together with the commentaries and notes of the gaon Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna, which for many years were regarded as a hidden treasure among his disciples and descendants. The book was edited and prepared for publication by Rabbi Shmuel Luria and printed at the initiative of the Vilna Gaon's family and disciples. At the beginning of the volume appears an important introduction by the publisher, Rabbi Shemaryahu ben Rabbi Mordechai Zuckerman, son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham, son of the Vilna Gaon, containing significant details regarding the manuscript, its transmission, and the importance of the commentary. The publication of this work marked a significant stage in the dissemination of the Vilna Gaon's teachings in Kabbalah. While much of his revealed Torah had already been printed in the generations following his passing, his commentaries on Kabbalistic works remained in manuscript for many years and were studied only in limited circles. This edition opened the way for the broader Torah world to understand the Vilna Gaon's approach to the study of the Zohar and Tikkunei HaZohar.
