Chiddushei HaRan on Tractate Gittin, by Rabbeinu Rabbi Nissim ben Reuven Gerondi, one of the foremost sages of fourteenth-century Spain and among the most influential authorities in Talmudic interpretation and halachic scholarship. The Ran’s novellae are regarded as among the foundational works of the Rishonim and remain essential to the study of the Talmud and the development of halachic discourse. This edition was printed in Prague in 1810, one of the foremost centers of Hebrew printing in Europe.  On the front flyleaf appears the ownership stamp of Rabbi Shimshon Altman, one of the distinguished rabbis of Hungary in his generation. Rabbi Shimshon was associated with the community of Paks, one of the important and long-established Jewish communities of Hungary, renowned for producing notable rabbis and Torah scholars. Volumes bearing his stamp testify to their inclusion in a respected rabbinic library devoted to serious study and scholarship. 43 leaves. 21 cm. Good condition. Defect to the title page.
