“May He Who Chooses Zion and Jerusalem Bless Him with Every Good” — Autograph Letter Signed by Rabbi Abraham Isaac HaKohen Kook on Behalf of the Zion Blumenthal Orphanage, Jerusalem. 1921 - Official postal card signed by Rabbi Abraham Isaac HaKohen Kook, addressed to Rabbi Shmuel Yitzchak Hillman of London. Jerusalem, 1921 (5681). An important and moving letter reflecting Rabbi Kook’s personal involvement in the support of charitable and educational institutions in Jerusalem during the early years of the British Mandate. In the letter, Rabbi Kook warmly recommends Rabbi Abraham Yochanan Blumenthal, emissary of the renowned Zion Blumenthal Orphanage in Jerusalem, who had traveled abroad to raise funds for the maintenance of the institution. Rabbi Kook appeals to Rabbi Hillman to assist the emissary in his efforts, emphasizing the importance of the orphanage and the value of supporting its sacred work.
