Celebrated for his extraordinary mastery of both revealed and mystical aspects of Torah, his noble character, and his radiant countenance, he was among the last surviving representatives of the pre-war generation of Hasidic rebbes. Following the passing of his father, the famed Vizhnitz Rebbe, author of Imrei Chaim, he assumed the leadership of the dynasty and guided the Vizhnitz movement for more than four decades, during which it became one of the most influential Hasidic courts in the world. Letters of this nature reflect the Rebbe’s personal and paternal relationship with his followers and associates, and constitute a touching Hasidic relic bearing the personal blessing of one of the most prominent spiritual leaders of the modern era.
