Manuscript – A Work of Torah Interpretations According to Kabbalah and Pardes – Southern Yemen, Early 20th Century - A manuscript containing a work of explanations and interpretations of the Torah according to Kabbalah, Pardes, notarikon, and Halacha. Southern Yemen, early 20th century. An extensive work of explanations, interpretations, and allusions relating to the Torah, combining various methods of interpretation, including Kabbalah, Pardes (the four levels of Torah interpretation), notarikon (interpretation through acronyms), and Halacha. A considerable portion of the work is structured in the form of questions and answers. The author first introduces a question with the word ”Why, ” followed by his explanation, beginning with the words ”And the reason is.” In several places, the writer identifies sources for the traditions and interpretations he presents, including the expression: ”Thus I heard in the name of the Recanati.” Elsewhere, the author's independent approach is evident in expressions such as ”I wished to explain.” In several of his interpretations, the author mentions the author of Chok Ne'eman, writing: ”The author of Chok Ne'eman raised the following difficulty.” Chok Ne'eman is a work containing interpretations and explanations of all Five Books of the Torah, written according to the Pardes method of interpretation, which was never published. The author frequently cites the teachings of the Arizal, introducing various passages and quotations with the words: ”And the Rabbi wrote.” The manuscript thus represents a Yemenite Torah commentary combining explanations, allusions, and homiletic interpretations according to the methods of Pardes and notarikon, alongside halachic discussions, drawing upon Kabbalistic traditions and the teachings of the Arizal. Southern Yemen, early 20th century. [112] pages. 17.5 cm. Lacking the final portion. Thick, sturdy paper. Very good condition. Simple binding.
