Banknote for "Shemirah" from the Rebbe Rabbi Itamar'l of Nadvorna, Patriarch of the Dynasty of Nadvona Chassidim

Banknote with a face value of ten US dollars given directly by the Admo"r Rabbi Itamar of Nadvorna, known as 'The Elder Admo"r of Nadvorna' - one of the leading Admo"rim of his generation, and patriarch of the dynasty of Admo"rim of Nadvorna in the recent generation. This blessed banknote has been preserved over the years by the family and it is being presented at this time at auction. Signed confirmation from the rebbe's family.

The banknote was given by the rebbe to his beloved grandson. Notations on the banknote from when it was given by the rebbe to his grandson, handwritten by the grandson who received the banknote. Inscribed on one side: "From my sacred grandfather, the rabbi and tzaddik, R' Itamar of Nadvorna ztz"l." On the other side: "From my grandfather, the rabbi and tzaddik, given to me by the rabbi and tzaddik, shlit"a." Aside from this is also an original affirmation [with the serial number of the banknote] handwritten and signed by the Admo"r's grandson.

It is well-known from the literature [Talmud Yerushalmi, the Chata"m Sofer, the Munkatcher rebbe and others] that tzaddikim's belongings have a special aura of sanctity, even many years after the tzaddikim have passed away, and they have the ability to enact wonders. This applies even more so banknotes and coins received from tzaddikim, which are related to as a true amulet, primarily in the Chassidic movement. Many reasons are given for this. The Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch explains that like the shirayim from a tzaddik's cup of wine can be mixed into an entire barrel of wine, which will then receive the  segulah of the shirayim, so too a tzaddik's money which enters a person's possession and mixes with his money will all receives the segulah of the tzaddik's money, and neither damage nor the evil eye will be able to rule over him.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the Admo"r Rabbi Itamar Rosenbaum of Nadvorna.
