FROMME HELENE - Condition (1) | Tin sign, embossed, lithographed, GER around 1910, 63 x 97 cm, Hugo Bestehorn, Magdeburg, how the viewer at the beginning of the 20th century must have been fascinated by this shrill, exotic advertisement. The monkey is apparently overwhelmed by the effect of breaking open a box of ‘Fromme Helene’ and ‘Witwe Bolte’. With its mouth wide open, it can hardly believe its luck.
