CHOCOLAT MENIER - Condition (1) | Porcelain sign / enamel sign, stenciled and lithographed, F 1910/20, 20 x 39 cm, Email JAPYsigned: d'apres Firmin Bouisset - a jewel of French advertising art in almost flawless condition. The portrait of the girl was designed by Bouisset as early as 1893. To give viewers an important hint (“Eviter les contrefaçons” - engl. “Avoid any imitations”), she even briefly takes her eyes off the basket of chocolates. At the time, this gem was attached to a chocolate vending machine, thus the keyhole next to the umbrella is still visible. The outstanding condition is all the more astonishing; even the pale pink lithography of the skin is still in perfect condition, and it shines like new.
