Cassandre, born Adolphe Mouron in Ukraine, is considered one of the leading representatives of French graphic design in the 1920s and 1930s and the most impressive poster designer in France. From a distance, the poster looks as if it has just been printed, but there are tiny imperfections in the white border that have been repaired during mounting on canvas. The black area and the motif are completely untouched.
