Rare 19th Century Iconographic Military Engraving "Illustrating the various kinds of arms of modern times" from the Iconographic Encyclopedia Of Science Literature And Art by J. G. Heck (1795-1857), Volume 2 - Plates, V. Military Sciences | Published: New York: Rudolf Garrigue, 1851 | by Johann Georg Heck, translated from German by Spencer Baird | Plate C. 1. 2. of 51 Plates (Corresponding to Vol. 3, Plate 25, illustrating the various kinds of arms of modern times, 539) | This plate was one of only two uniquely engraved by Schmeissinger, all other plates engraved primarily by Henry Winkles, and G. Feldweg | Approx. 11.75' W x 9.5" H | Numbers in the illustration correspond to text in Volume 3 (see images) | Johann Georg Heck (1795 in Strasbourg - 20th November 1857 in Leipzig), was a German bookseller and publisher, lithographer, cartographer, geographer and author. His Iconographic Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts is one of the largest German view works of the 19th century.
