Attached to the verso is a sticker from the Moderne Galerie Heinrich Thannhauser (Theatinerstraße 7, München, Munich), which bears the gallery's inventory number. Past provenance: Moderne Galerie Thannhauser, Munich. Established by the Thannhauser family in early 20th-century Europe, the galleries were renowned for their cutting-edge exhibitions, which helped launch and forge the careers of many of the most important Modernist artists. From the beginning of the 20th century until the Nazis came to power, the Thannhauser family was one of Germany's leading art dealers. From 1909 to 1928, the gallery was located at Theatinerstraße 7, in the heart of Munich's shopping district. This is the address that appears on the sticker attached to the painting.
