Willy Hallstein (German, 1887-1923) - ”Stunde der Weihe” (Hour of Consecration), 1920 / from the series ”Schwabing: Munchner Boheme” (Munich Bohemians): Bohemian life in Weimar Munich. RARE! Etching on Vellum paper, Plate: 16 x 19 cm / Sheet: 35 x 27 cm, Signed and titled in pencil, Plate signed as well. From the series ”Schwabing; 10 Intermezzi aus der Munchner Boheme by Willy Hallstein that presumably originates from a series entitled ”Collection La Boheme, ” which the Charlottenburg art publisher Grauert & Zink offered for sale in its 1920 catalog ”Graphik moderner Künstler” (Graphics of Modern Artists). A fine caricature of a small group of art lovers contemplating the artist's ”plant painting” in a seemingly shabby studio in the presence of the artist. The model, a real plant, stands directly next to the easel, almost the only object in the room.
