His many illustrious disciples numbered among the most prominent Torah luminaries in Europe, and his contemporary Rabbanim unanimously accepted his halachic rulings. In 1838, upon the recommendation of his master the Chasam Sofer, he was appointed Rav of Yargen, a town near Pressburg that was renowned for its pristine air. When the Chasam Sofer vacationed in Yargen, he would visit his disciple’s beis medrash and listen to him teach Torah.
