שווארץ יוסף - Rabbi Yosef Hacohen Schwartz, from Grosswardein, author of ”Vayelaket Yosef”. 1934 The postcard letter is addressed to Rabbi Zussman Sofer from Budapest and contains several issues in Hallacha & Gemara. Rabbi Yosef Hacohen Schwartz (1875-1944), was the son of Rabbi Naftali Schwartz, a leading rabbi in Hungary. Rabbi Yosef served as a dayan in Grosswardein and as rabbi of the Machzikei Torah congregation. Most of his literary work involved the editing of Vayilaket Yosef, a rabbinic literature journal published in Hungary for 20 years. In the course of this work he corresponded with the Torah giants of his generation and his name is mentioned in dozens of responsa books. He was murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz.
