Letter by Rabbi Moshe Hellman, Rabbi of Krystynopol, the Mentor of Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin. Letter asking for assistance in finding grounds for a dispensation for an aguna (wife whose husband’s whereabouts and fate are unknown) to remarry. Handwritten and signed. Rabbi Moshe Hellman was born in Nemirov and was recognized as a child prodigy. At a young age he was already ordained as a rabbi by the Maharsham of Brezhan. He served as Rosh Mesivta in Shatz, and one of his outstanding students was Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin . He was the dayan in Krystynopol between the two world wars. He was murdered by the Nazis. 21x17 cm. Good condition. Two file holes at the bottom of the page, with slight damage to the stamp.
