Letter by Rabbi Mendel Zaks, son-in-law of the Chofetz Chaim - Existence of the holy Yeshivah! Baltimore 1939 The letter is addressed to Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Hacohen of Montreal, head of the Rabbis of Canada. In his letter he appeals to him to arrange for him a temporary visit permit for a few months in Canada since his current Visitor permit in the USA allows him only for a short period. ” This is for the sake of the Yeshivah and its existence! ” Written on his official stationery as Dean of the Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim in Radun:- AT PRESENT IN AMERICA 76 Suffolk Street, New York Rabbi Menachem Mendel Sachs (1894-1974), the youngest son-in-law of the ”Chafetz Chaim” was the head of the Radin Yeshiva while his father-in-law was still alive. During the Holocaust, he moved with his student to Vilnius. He travelled to the USA to try and transfer the yeshiva to the USA yet did not succeed and they were exiled to Siberia. In the USA, he served as a Ram at the Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Yeshiva. He was one of the prominent leaders of ”Va'ad Ha'Hatzalah of New York”.
