Hallachic responsa letter from Rabbi David Tzvi Hoffman of Berlin. A long hallachic discussion regarding the divorcing of a woman who's initial marriage is in question according to the hallacha.  Rabbi David Zvi Hoffman (1843-1921) studied under the Ketav Sofer, the Maharam Schick. He was a leader of German Jewry at the end of the 19th century and a proponent of ” Torah im Derech Eretz.” He headed the Beit Midrash L'Rabbanim in Berlin. He was known for his book of responsa Melamed L'Ho'il and authored other commentaries and works.
