Priceless! Unpublished Chassidic Chiddushim in Handwriting of the Admor HaZaken of Alexander! Kol Simcha by the Rebbe of Peshischa Personal Copy of the First Rebbe of Alexander & Sons  * A Sefer Yesod in Chassidus containing chiddushim on the Chumash and sugyos of Shas by the Admor Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Peshischa, in its first edition. This holy sefer belonged to Grand Rabbi Yechiel Danziger of Alexander ztz”l, father of the dynasty of Alexander Rebbes. The final leaf features the inscription: ”This sefer belongs to the rabbinic… the gaon Rabbi Yechiel, Av Beis Din of the holy community of Gritse, Friday, Erev Shabbos, 1874, Gritse .” At the time, the Rebbe was serving as Av Beis Din in the Polish town of Gritse, prior to assuming the mantle of leadership, and was subordinate to Rabbi Dov Berish of Biala. On the last page, the Admor HaZaken wrote Chassidic Chiddushei Torah in his very own handwriting , which have never been published! Original surviving writings of the Admor HaZaken, especially handwritten Chassidic insights, are exceedingly rare; gold and silver cannot match their value! Near this inscription appears a signature: ”The humble Yisrael, son of the Rav of Gritse” — likely a very early signature of the holy Rebbe the Yismach Yisrael, son of the Grand Rebbe of Alexander and one of the greatest Rebbes in Poland, whose Chassidim numbered in the tens of thousands. On the reverse of the title page are several signatures of Rabbi Betzalel Yair of Alexander, son of the Grand Rebbe, brother of the Yismach Yisrael, and father-in-law of the Emunas Moshe. One of the signatures is dated 1896 when he was still a young man of about 31! The Alexander dynasty has long shared a deep bond with Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Peshischa. The dynasty’s founder, Rabbi Shraga Feivel of Gritse (father of the Grand Rebbe), was a devoted talmid of the Rebbe of Peshischa and among his leading Chassidim. His son, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak (brother of the Grand Rebbe), was the son-in-law of Rabbi Simcha Bunim. The Rebbe the Yismach Yisrael brings many chiddushim from Rabbi Simcha Bunim in his sefer, many of them originating from Kol Simcha - the very copy before us! Indeed, the roots of Alexander Chassidus are firmly planted in the ways of Peshischa, an influence felt until this day. Founder of the Alexander Dynasty The Admor HaZaken Rabbi Yechiel Danziger (1828–1894) was the son of Rabbi Shraga Feivel of Gritse who served for a short time as Rebbe to thousands of Vorka Chassidim. Rabbi Yechiel served in the rabbinate of Tulchin, Gritse, and Pilz, later establishing his court which became the Alexander Chassidus, one of the largest Chassidic dynasties in the world before the Holocaust. His eldest son, the Admor Rabbi Yerachmiel Yisrael Yitzchak, author of Yismach Yisrael (1853–1910), succeeded his father and served with devotion as leader to the masses. He was a close disciple of the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh of Radzymin and is known by the title of his sefer ”Yismach Yisrael” on the Torah, published posthumously. After his passing, leadership passed to his brother, the Tiferes Shmuel of Alexander, father of the Akeidas Yitzchak. His younger son, the Admor Rabbi Betzalel Yair (1865–1934), was very close to his brothers the Yismach Yisrael and Tiferes Shmuel, and only later in life began receiving Chassidim. The Alexander dynasty continues to this day through his descendants: following the passing of his nephew the Akeidas Yitzchak (murdered in the Holocaust, Hy”d), leadership was assumed by Rabbi Betzalel Yair's son-in-law, the Admor Rabbi Yehuda Moshe, author of Emunas Moshe, father of the Imrei Menachem and grandfather of the present Rebbe of Alexander, shlit”a.
