Eretz HaChaim by the Holy Be'er Mayim Chaim First Edition. Czernowitz, 1861 * ”Wonderful words, more precious than fine gold.” (Text on title page)  Sefer Eretz HaChaim contains two parts: Part 1: Halachic and aggadic chiddushim on Maseches Berachos; Part 2: 'Likutim Yekarim' commentaries on Tehillim, Yeshaya, Megillas Esther and Eicha and halachic chiddushim. Authored by the holy Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Chernowitz, author of Be'er Mayim Chaim and Sidduro Shel Shabbos, one of the greatest luminaries of Chassidus and a genius both in Revealed and Hidden Torah. It was printed from the author's original manuscript, the sefer’s name was determined by the Admor of Ruzhin (from the publisher's introduction). On the back of the main title page is a list of subscribers, including several grandchildren of the Admor of Ruzhin. Unusual Printing Sequence and Title Pages: In an uncommon sequence, the second part of the sefer was printed before the first. Upon its completion, the first part was printed with its own distinct title page. A general title page for both parts was also issued, resulting in a total of three separate title pages. The Admor Rabbi Chaim of Czernowitz (1760-1818) studied chassidus from the holy Rabbi Yechiel Michel of Zlotchov who was his primary teacher. He served as Rav in the communities of Czernowitz, Botosani, Mogilev and Kishinev in Romania, and was one of the preeminent disseminators of chassidus in Romania and Bukovina. In late 1813 he yearned to ascend to Eretz Yisrael, and settled in Tzfas where he lived until his passing. Renowned in the world of Chassidus for his foundational sefarim Be'er Mayim Chaim, Sidduro shel Shabbos, Sha'ar HaTefillah and Eretz HaChaim, which the Apter Rav describes as “sweeter than honey.” All of his sefarim were printed in numerous editions and are regarded as Chassidic classics. Be'er Mayim Chaim on the Torah, full of chassidic foundational teachings; Sidduro Shel Shabbos describes the sanctity and attributes of Shabbos and is the primary Chassidic work on Shabbos; Sha'ar HaTefillah profound explanations on the virtue of prayer according to chassidic teaching; and the present Eretz HaChaim , chiddushim on Nac”h and Maseches Berachos.
