Sefer Yesod Toldos Aharon Freiberg, 1583. First Edition. * An index of all verses in Tanach and the Megillos indicating where they are mentioned in the Talmud Bavli, by Rabbi Aharon of Fiasro. The sefer Toldos Aharon is one of the earliest and most fundamental reference works, enabling the reader to locate any verse cited in the Talmud and see how it is interpreted. From the year 1590 onward, it was incorporated into printed editions of the Chamisha Chumshei Torah and has since been reprinted hundreds of times, often with additions. (For the importance of this work beyond its use as a reference tool, see the Shach, Yoreh De'ah §198:6.) This first edition is also the only printing of the original Toldos Aharon as a standalone work, without the Chumash and without later additions. Extremely rare printing. Only eight Hebrew titles were printed in the city of Freiberg in southern Germany over the course of several centuries! Freiberg, 1583–1584. First edition. Page Count: [39] leaves. Size: 34.7 cm. Condition: Generally good. Small loss to one leaf, holes in several leaves causing minor damage to text, adhesions for reinforcement. New elegant leather binding. Bibliography: Stefansky, Sifrei Yesod #21
