Manuscript Chidushei Torah Handwritten by the Goren David of Yarmut * 20 pages in the handwriting of the tzaddik Rabbi Aharon David Deutsch, author of Goren David, one of the leading disciples of the Chasam Sofer. A full sugya comprising thirteen sections, dealing with the halachos of treifos concerning the yoseires ha’kaved (a part of the liver). At the end of the sugya, the author concludes with heartfelt words: ”...So it appears to me clearly, with the help of Heaven. Blessed is the Giver of the Torah who has illuminated our eyes with thirteen sections to clarify every stringency and difficulty arising in the laws of the yoseires [the liver's additional lobe], and may He always aid us in the path of truth, to bring hidden matters to light, amen, selah.” Rabbi Aharon David Deutsch (1813-1878) was the Av Beis Din of Yarmut and author of Goren David. He was a leading disciple of the Chasam Sofer who greatly admired him. The Chasam Sofer remarked that he relied on the prayers of the Goren David and that he was “destined for the World to Come.” The Ksav Sofer greatly admired him as well and whenever he visited Pressburg, the Ksav Sofer would go out to greet him adorned in his Shabbos clothing. He was also renowned as a miracle-worker. When people from his town would travel to seek blessings from the holy Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Sanz, the latter would say: “Why do you come to me? You can go to the righteous Gaon of Yarmut (Balassagyarmat) who is in your own town.” Hungary, c. 1870s.
