“As one endowed with Ruach Hakodesh, it is no wonder that he sees from afar”!! A collection of Kabbalistic Letters and Dreams sent to Rabbi Yehuda Zev Leibowitz from the Kabbalist Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock * The following collection consists of 13 handwritten and autographed letters by the Jerusalem Kabbalist and tzaddik Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock. All the letters were sent to the saintly Kabbalist Rabbi Yehuda Zev Leibowitz, author of V’zos L’Yehuda. Several pages contain Kabbalistic annotations – some of which were even signed with the holy handwriting of Rabbi Yehuda Zev himself! The letters are replete with detailed and varied content, offering a rare and enlightening glimpse into the pure world of these two tzaddikim, who were among the greatest masters of Kabbalah in recent generations. The letters include discussions of Kabbalah, chiddushim in Torah and tales of tzaddikim. Some letters discuss issues concerning the Western Wall - the printing of sefarim, health matters and Lag BaOmer. There is also mention of Rabbi Moshe Yair’s righteous mother, Rebbetzin Malka - the daughter of the holy Admor Rabbi David Tzvi Shlomo Biderman of Lelov - among other topics. One especially long letter, spanning four pages, is devoted entirely to the passing of the Admor Rabbi Yoelish of Satmar (the primary rebbi of Rabbi Yehuda Zev), including a remarkable story of how Rabbi Moshe Yair succeeded in convincing the Rebbe to visit Eretz Yisrael! In the letters, Rabbi Moshe Yair recounts his dreams, including an extraordinary dream where the Arizal revealed himself to him – and he writes, “With the modest is wisdom.” In another letter, he discusses another dream, relating how he merited to see “the elder of the holy community, R’ Duvidel zt”l [of Lelov] - may he intercede for us for good, Amen.” The tzaddik and kabbalist Rabbi Yehuda Zev Leibowitz (1922–2010) was one of the greatest kabbalists and tzaddikim of the last generation. In his youth, he studied under the holy Rabbi Yoel of Satmar. During the Holocaust, he lost nearly his entire family. Afterward, he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, where he worked for many years measuring roads (!) to support himself. He grew close to Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Brandwein and joined the circle of kabbalists which included Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock. Gedolei Yisrael who recognized his greatness maintained ties with him, including the Rebbe of Belz and the Rebbe of Sanz-Klausenburg. The tzaddik and kabbalist Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock (1899–1982) was one of the great Kabbalists of Jerusalem and a close disciple of the Baal HaSulam, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Ashlag. He was a grandson of the Admor Rabbi David Tzvi Shlomo of Lelov, whom he references in the present letters. He authored dozens of works in Kabbalah, Chiddushei Torah, and stories of tzaddikim, drawing from his vast breadth of knowledge - some of which are discussed in the present letters. Despite the age difference, a deep and enduring bond existed for many decades between Rabbi Moshe Yair and Rabbi Yehuda Zev. They studied complex Kabbalistic ideas together and referenced one another in their works. Rabbi Yehuda Zev put great effort into helping print Rabbi Moshe Yair’s sefarim. In one of the present letters, Rabbi Moshe Yair writes: “Every time I travel to the Western Wall, his pure name immediately comes to mind… this is clear proof that [his heart] is bound within the depths of my heart…” The letters were written over many years, from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s.
