A Segulah for Protection The holy handwriting of Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik of Komarno - author of Heichal HaBrachah * * This is a complete leaf, written on both sides, in the sacred handwriting of the tzaddik and mekubal, the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Yehudah Yechiel Safrin of Komarno. Rabbi Safrin was known for his works on the Hidden and Revealed Torah. The content in this work is drawn from his important commentary on the Mishnayos which consists of two parts. The first part is called 'Ma'aseh Oreg' - and was written on the Yerushalmi and Tosefta as they relate to the Mishnah. Then there is the commentary 'Pnei Zakein', where he presents his halachic conclusions according to the rulings of the Rambam. On one side of the page is the title 'Pnei Zakein' and next to it is the title 'Ma'aseh Oreg'. In the commentary 'Ma'aseh Oreg' on this page, he quotes the Tosafos Yom Tov, referring to him as ”my elder/grandfather, the genius the Tosefos Yom Tov.” The Segulah of the writings of the Rebbe of Komarno - The writings of the Rebbe of Komarno are held to be powerful segulos - likely because of what he wrote in a letter regarding his chumash 'Heichal HaBrachah': ”It is clear to me that whoever possesses our chumash in his home will be saved from all evil, harm, illness, and lack. His home will be filled with Hashem’s blessing, goodness, success, wealth, and long life for him... He will also be blessed with children, life, sustenance, kindness, mercy, and merit.” Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Yehuda Yechiel Safrin of Komarno (1806-1874) was an exalted tzaddik and miracle worker, a celebrated genius and prolific author both in the Revealed and Hidden Torah, and one of the greatest Rebbes and Kabbalists of his time. From a remarkably early age, he attained outstanding spiritual accomplishments, drawing from the wisdom of his uncle Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Ziditchov. He personally attested that he possessed sparks from the souls of the Arizal and Baal Shem Tov. The rebbe’s son wrote in his preface to the sefer Zohar Chai, “Several times, I witnessed with my own eyes that when someone came to request [a blessing] on behalf of a sick individual, my father would tell me, ‘This one will live, and this one will die…’ almost like it was by Rabbi Chanina ben Dosa.” His works include Heichal HaBrachah, Otzar Chaim and others.
