Hanau, 1628 * We are offering a pair of halachic sefarim - important because they contain the customs of Ashkenaz by the Maharil and the Rema. They were printed in the same city and year and bound in one impressive antique binding. 1. Sefer Maharil – Halachic rulings, customs, and practices for the whole year by Rabbi Yaakov Segal Moelin, with the customs of his rebbi, Rabbi Shalom of Neustadt.    This edition includes, for the first time, an important addition on the customs of Frankfurt by Rabbi Hertz Levi, Av Beis Din of Frankfurt. Sefer Maharil is the primary source for Ashkenazic customs and is frequently relied upon by the Rema in his rulings on the Shulchan Aruch. At the end of the volume is the index leaf to Sefer Maharil – this leaf is very rare and is missing from most copies! 2. Sefer Zos Toras HaChatas – Laws of issur v’heter by the Rema, Rabbi Moshe Isserles of Cracow.   This edition includes, for the first time, glosses by Rabbi Petachia ben Yosef, one of the great Rabbanim of Frankfurt.   The sefer quickly gained widespread acceptance across Germany and Poland as a foundational halachic work on issur v’heter, and became one of the most widely studied halachic texts.
