Refuah V'Chaim Segulos by Rabbi Chaim Palagi, including rare leaf of amulet! Izmir, 1874 * This is a rare sefer of prayers, remedies, segulos for protection, for safeguarding, for healing and for times of plague, for a woman after childbirth and more, with kabbalistic illustrations and sacred names of Hashem. Authored by the great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Palagi, Av Beis Din of Izmir. The author stresses in his introduction that all the remedies and segulos he brings here are not from earlier sefarim of segulos, but rather, he stresses that, ”I am relating new things…” This extraordinary copy includes the rare folded leaf containing a large amulet for protection. At the bottom of the leaf is printed the words: ”May this serve as a shield for the bearer of this amulet… It will command dread upon every foreign heart, that every kind of demon and evil spirit will flee from the body of the bearer of this amulet, through the power of this sacred and pure seal… Throughout the generations, Jews would remove the amulet leaf from the sefer and use it, and thus it survived and was preserved in only a handful of copies! Condition: Good, photographic completion of a corner of the title-page and the leaf after it, and a few repairs. Stains. Fine new binding. Provenance : William Gross Collection, Tel Aviv. This is the numbering of the sefarim authored and printed by the Gaon החבי”פ (הצעיר חיים בן יעקב פאלאג'י - the young Chaim ben Yaakov Palagi), meaning that this sefer is his 48th composition!!
