Chiddushei Aggados Manuscript and Torah Chiddushim by the Great Rabbanim of Hungary Circa 1876 * A booklet of 37 pages handwritten by students, containing Chiddushei Aggados, explanations on the Torah, and drashos for the festivals, which the students received from the great rabbanim of Hungary. Among the rabbanim whose chiddushim appear here: Rabbi Yehuda Assad – “And it appears to the Av Beis Din of the holy community of Serdahel whose name was widely acclaimed, Reb Yuda Assad of blessed memory” (Pg. 3). Maharam Schick (most likely) – “Chiddushei Torah from our master and teacher, may his light shine, on Parshas Chayei Sarah… that was said in 1876” (page 9), and on the following page: “What our master and teacher, may his light shine, said in 1876, in the holy community of Khust, may it be built and established.” The Ksav Sofer – “And also my master and father, Av Beis Din of Pressburg, of blessed memory…” (Pg. 37) The Chasam Sofer – “For Rosh Hashanah in the name of the Gaon, the Chasam Sofer, of blessed memory” (Pg. 39) Reb Eliezer Lipman Neizatz – “From the Gaon Eliezer Lipman, Av Beis Din of the holy community of Serdahel” (Pg. 42). The notebook as it is has never been printed. It has not been examined whether the chiddushim have parallels in the sefarim of the aforementioned geonim. On page 45 appears the signature of one of the owners: ”This booklet of Chiddushei Aggados belongs to me, the humble Gershon Tischler from the holy community of Hadmad… 1872.” (He appears on the list of subscribers for the sefer Imrei Shefer by the tzaddik of Darag, Munkacs 1888). At the beginning of the booklet, the front cover sheet has been preserved, and on its reverse are numerous inscriptions: ”The humble Mordechai Meir Friedman from Baden, may it be built and established” ”Shimshon Avraham Sternberg” ”Chiddushei Torah from the Gaon, our master and teacher, Av Beis Din of Tzehelim, shlita” ”Chiddushei Torah from our holy master, the gaon and tzaddik, Av Beis Din of Tyrnau, shlita” Hungary, c. 1876. Page Count: [37] written pages + blank leaves + front board of the original binding. Most of the booklet was written by one student, several pages apparently by another. Size: Approx. 21 cm. Condition: Good to fair, tears at the edges of some leaves. New fabric binding. Provenance: Kedem Auction House (2011)
