Public Proclamation Signed by Bnei Brak Rabbanim, Headed by Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Wosner and the Vizhnitz Rebbe Shlit”a * A public notice instructing the community to purchase only poultry slaughtered by the shochtim of Bnei Brak, under the supervision of the city’s rav, Rabbi Yaakov Landau zt”l. The proclamation bears the signatures of ten of the city’s leading rabbanim, among them some of the Gedolei HaDor, including Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Wosner, author of Shevet HaLevi, and the Admor Rabbi Yisrael Hager of Vizhnitz shlit”a. The signatories are:  1. Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Wosner, Av Beis Din of Zichron Meir and Rosh Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, author of Shevet HaLevi;  2. The Vizhnitzer Rebbe, Rabbi Yisrael Hager shlit”a, who at that time served as rav of Kiryas Vizhnitz;  3. Rabbi Yitzchak Tzvi Berenfeld, rav of Kehillas Chug Chasam Sofer. Signed with the above are:  4. Rabbi Avraham Tzvi Weiss, Av Beis Din of Neve Achiezer (father of Rabbi Yitzchak Yeshaya Weiss shlit”a);  5. Rabbi Yaakov Landau, rav of the city;  6. Rabbi Yehosef Chaim Sheinfeld, rav of Kiryas Herzog;  7. Rabbi Eliyahu Katz, rav of the Satmar community;  8. Rabbi Nosson Gestetner, rav of Shikun Agudas Yisrael;  9. Rabbi Shlomo Zilberstein, rav of the Ger chassidim;  10. Rabbi Nosson Tzvi Friedman, rav of Shikun Hei, author of Otzar HaRabbanim. Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Wosner (1913–2015) was Av Beis Din of Zichron Meir and Rosh Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, and was one of the foremost poskim and meishivim of the last generation. The eleven volumes of his Shevet HaLevi responsa contain thousands of rulings in practical halacha, and there is hardly a contemporary question that did not find its way to his desk. The Vizhnitzer Rebbe, Rabbi Yisrael Hager shlit”a , is one of the preeminent Rebbes of our generation, son of the Rebbe the Yeshuos Moshe. In 1972, upon the passing of the Imrei Chaim, the Yeshuos Moshe became Rebbe and he himself became rav of Kiryas Vizhnitz. Bnei Brak, 1977 . Printed letter with ten original signatures.
