Tikkun Tefillah Rare Sefer of Tikkunim Printed by the Ben Ish Chai Anonymously Baghdad, 1870. First edition. * Tikkun Tefillah, containing tikkunim, kabbalistic intentions, and minhagim of Kabbalah based on the Sefer HaKavanos of the Arizal and the siddur of the Rashash. The sefer was printed without revealing the name of its author – who is none other than the Ben Ish Chai zt”l, who later became the leading sage of Baghdad and one of the most well-known gedolim. Only a few months prior to this printing, the Ben Ish Chai had returned from his famous journey to Eretz Yisrael, where it was revealed to him that he was a spark of the soul of Benayahu ben Yehoyada, after whom he named many of his sefarim. Following the title page, the author suggests that the kavanos recorded here should be copied into siddurim. A rare sefer, undoubtedly printed in a very limited number of copies. Pocket format – only 13.8 cm. Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad, author of Ben Ish Chai (1835-1909) , was the leader of Iraqi Jewry and the greatest oriental sage of his times. His brilliance and righteousness were apparent from a young age. His eloquent drashos, delivered before thousands, sometimes lasted four or five hours. He was world-renowned for his knowledge of the hidden and revealed Torah and was known for his great sanctity. He authored many sefarim dealing with all topics of the Torah, including Rav Brachos, Ben Ish Chai and many more. Besides these vast and monumental works, he also composed several small sefarim that he printed anonymously, all exceedingly rare, and to this day it remains unclear why he chose to conceal his authorship.
