Seder Olam Rabba The Vilna Gaon Edition, with His Commentary Shklov, 1801. First Edition. * The chronology of generations from Adam HaRishon until the days of the Tannaim, by the Tanna Rabbi Yosi ben Chalafta. One of the earliest and most important historical sefarim, already mentioned in the Talmud itself. In this edition, the commentaries of the Vilna Gaon were printed for the first time, together with numerous corrections he made essential for understanding the sefer properly. These commentaries were included in most subsequent editions. One of the earliest printed works of the Vilna Gaon, issued only three years after his passing. Published by the Gaon’s distinguished disciple, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov, who a few years later immigrated to Eretz Yisrael as part of the famous Aliyah of the Vilna Gaon’s disciples.
