Large Leaf Handwritten by Rabbi Akiva Eiger Chiddushim on Shas  * Chiddushim on Maseches Kesuvos regarding one who donates his wife’s earnings to hekdesh, in the handwriting of the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger, Av Beis Din of Pozna. A large leaf, written on both sides — nearly 100 lines in his holy handwriting. At the top appears the heading: ”With the help of Heaven, the sugya of “Hamakdish ma’aseh yedei ishto” (one who donates his wife’s earnings to hekdesh), Kesuvos 58b.” These chiddushim are part of the fifteenth chapter of Drush VeChiddush (Warsaw 1839), but contain many differences in wording and the order of topics. In their introduction to Drush VeChiddush, Rabbi Akiva Eiger’s sons noted that “the language of this sefer is not exactly the pure language of our father… and we have also added and subtracted, and at times reversed matters.” The present chiddushim are Rabbi Akiva Eiger’s original, unedited version. They belong to his longer chiddushim on sugiyas, known as ‘Ma’arachos.’ Rabbi Akiva Eiger (1762-1838), a leading Gadol, left an enduring impact on Torah study. His writings, questions, and chiddushim have become treasures of the Torah world. Though his Torah began to be published in his later years, the work of uncovering his Torah continues, and from time to time, additional chiddushim come to light.
