Large Proclamation from the Jewish Ghetto in Mantua Regulations Regarding Jewish Women's Jewelry. 1759 * ‘Seder HaPragmatica’ is a printed notice in an especially large format (40.5 x 57 cm!), containing various regulations enacted by the General Committee of the Mantua community. Most of the regulations dealt with women's jewelry and were intended to reduce the use of expensive jewelry for two reasons: the envy of poor women and concern about harassment by the city's gentiles. The notice was printed for the Jewish community in the Mantua ghetto and was no doubt printed in a limited number of copies. Mantua, 1759. Huge single-sided printed leaf. Size : 40.5 x 57 cm. Condition : Good, especially thick quality paper. Two small holes (original printing defect). Fold marks, stains.
