Tefillah LeMoshe by Rabbi Moshe Eichenstein of Sambor Lemberg, 1856. First Edition. * Commentary on the Torah, filled with mussar and Yiras Shamayim, by Rabbi Moshe Eichenstein of Sambor, the brother, disciple, and successor of Rabbi Tzvi Hersh of Ziditshov. This is an important chassidic sefer, overflowing with the teachings of the great tzaddikim of Chassidus, particularly those of his own teachers: the Chozeh MiLublin, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Riminov, and on many occasions his brother, Rabbi Tzvi Hersh of Ziditshov. The sefer was printed through the efforts of Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik of Ziditshov, the author’s nephew, who persuaded the author’s son to deliver the manuscript into the hands of the publisher. Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik of Ziditshov remarked concerning the author: “I was his disciple, and from his mouth I live” (see the introduction). Rabbi Moshe Eichenstein of Sambor (1765–1840) was a primary disciple of the Chozeh MiLublin and of his brother Rabbi Tzvi Hersh of Ziditshov, and he also studied under Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Riminov and Rabbi Moshe of Pshevorsk. After his brother’s passing, the chassidim of Ziditshov flocked to him, and the Gedolei Hador held him in great esteem. His nephew and disciple, Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik of Ziditshov, said of him that he stood above time, above intellect, and above nature. He excelled in humility, a quality readily apparent in his manner of writing and in the expressions he applies to himself throughout this sefer.
