Ohr Kadmon A Miniature Sefer of Prayers and Supplications Printed by Rabbi Moshe Chagiz Venice, 1703. First Edition. * A small and rare sefer containing a collection of prayers composed by our early sages, some of which were printed here for the first time, copied from a manuscript brought from Eretz Yisrael. The one who brought it to print is Rabbi Moshe Chagiz, author of Leket HaKemach, one of the most renowned Torah giants of three centuries ago, who battled fiercely against the remnants of Sabbatean influence. At the beginning of the sefer, he wrote a beautiful introduction, stating that he was printing the work in the month of Elul, to awaken people's hearts. Indeed, the title page explicitly notes: “Here in Venice, the month of Elul.” The sefer includes: 1. Kesser Malchu s, a precious prayer by the Radbaz, Rabbi Dovid ben Zimra (leaves 1–8a). Some Sephardic and Ashkenazic communities customarily recited it on Yom Kippur. 2. Supplication on the Yichud and the Thirteen Principles , likewise attributed to the Radbaz (8b–9a), also recited by certain communities on Yom Kippur. 3. A prayer of viduy , attributed to Rabbi Zerachya the Greek (9–10). 4. A rebuke from Rabbeinu Bachya the chassid (10–11). 5. A selichah by Rabbi Yehudah HaChassid (12). 6. Marganisa D’vei Rav , a midrash of rebuke to awaken the heart (12b–14a), printed in Reishis Chochmah under the title “Marganisa of Rabbi Meir a”h.” 7. A discourse 'LeMa'alas Hazkaras HaTeshuva ' by the publisher himself (leaves 14–30). 8. A rebuke (leaf 30). A miniature format of only 13.4 cm. Because of his fondness for this antique sefer, Rabbi Eliyahu HaKohen of Izmir copied the complete prayers from it and embedded them in his renowned work, Shevet Mussar. At the time of printing, the publisher was approximately thirty-one years old and was then engaged in publishing the writings of his father, Rabbi Yaakov Chagiz, and his grandfather, Rabbi Moshe Galanti. On leaf 29a, he mentions his sefer Leket HaKemach, “which I… am involved in printing, ” hinting at the hidden edition of Leket HaKemach, of which a rare remnant appeared in  Zaidy Auction 6, item 91.
