Pesach Hagaddah with French Translation – with Musical Notes and Beautiful Illustrations – Paris, 1865 * Pesach Hagaddah, carefully edited and attractively arranged, translated into French according to the custom of Ashkenazim and Sephardim. The entire Hagaddah is printed in Hebrew and French, on facing pages. This is the first edition of the present French translation by Leib Blum, and it was subsequently reprinted in approximately twenty-five additional editions. Four illustrations appear throughout the volume: Basya, the daughter of Pharaoh, drawing Moshe from the Nile; the arrival of Moshe and Aharon before Pharaoh; the Egyptian army drowning in Yam Suf; and Yetzias Mitzrayim. It seems likely that this is the first printing of these illustrations (in many Haggados, the illustrations were copied from earlier editions, and only a minority of Haggados contain original artwork). Bound at the end of the sefer are two leaves containing musical notes for the piyutim “Adir Hu” and “Ki Lo Na’eh, ” as well as for “Hodu” and “Ana.” Paris, 1865.
