Prayers for Pesach: Machzor for the Three Festivals. Shapira Press. Zhitomir, 1857. * Machzor, Chelek Beis, for the three festivals: Sukkos and Simchas Torah, Pesach, and Shavuos, with a commentary for the piyutim and yotzros printed along the sides of the pages, and their translation into Yiddish at the bottom of the pages. Printed at the press of the partners Rabbi Chanina Lipa and Rabbi Yehoshua Heshel Shapira, grandsons of the Rav of Slavita. The machzor follows the custom of Reisin, Lita, Poland, Pihem, and Mehrin. The words “Machzor” and “In Zhitomir” were printed in red ink. In the prayer for rain (leaves 43–46) and in the Tefillas Hatal (leaves 64–67), illustrations of the twelve constellations were printed. “Every G-d-fearing man should make an effort to acquire sefarim from old printings, which were for the most part produced by those who feared Heaven, and especially from the presses of Slavita and Zhitomir, the grandsons of the Rav of Koritz, who were great and holy printers” (Taharas HaKodesh by the Shomer Emunim, ch. 6).
