Segulah for Protection Ohr HaGanuz by a Disciple of the Maggid of Mezeritch First Edition. With the Rare Wrapper. Lemberg, 1866 * A volume containing two works authored by Rabbi Yehuda Leib HaKohen of Anipoli, one of the foremost members of the inner circle of the Maggid of Mezeritch, who served as his baal tefillah. He was one of the only two people from whom the Baal HaTanya requested an endorsement for his sefer HaTanya. Part I : Ohr HaGanuz – Explanations on the Torah according to the four levels of parde”s (pshat, remez, drasha, sod). Part II : VeZos LeYehuda – Explanations on Mishnayos by way of remez. This is a segulah sefer for protection. In Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl's endorsement of this sefer, he writes: ”Every man should purchase this holy sefer for himself as a merit for complete protection for him and his children for all generations.” His three saintly sons of Chernobyl, Trisk, and Tolna, also write similarly in their endorsements, given thirty years after their father’s: Rabbi Avraham, the Trisker Maggid: “I have faith in the words of my father… that these holy sefarim will serve as a protection for all those who purchase them…. for him and his children for all generations.” Rabbi Mordechai’s other sons, Rabbi Aharon of Chernobyl and Rabbi David, the Tolner Maggid, expressed similar sentiments and blessings as well. A rare endorsement from the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch is included at the beginning of the sefer. This is the only known endorsement given by the Tzemach Tzedek! There are additional endorsements as well from Rabbi Chaim of Sanz and the Chidushei Harim of Gur. At the start of the sefer is a rare, colored wrapper-title page, with its matching rear wrapper at the end. This wrapper is absent from the Institute for Hebrew Bibliography. Lemberg, 1866.
