Special Siddur for Tisha B’Av – Amsterdam, 1778 * A siddur titled 'Seder Kinos According to the Ashkenaz Custom'. Designated siddur entirely for the tefillos of Tisha B’Av, for the benefit of the mispallelim. The tefillos of Maariv and Shacharis are printed at the beginning in their standard nusach, followed by Megillas Eichah, and kinos for the night and for the day of Tisha B’Av. It also includes halachic rulings and practical instructions in Yiddish. The year of printing is alluded to on the title page through the words “Ve’sashuv L’Yerushalayim B’rachamim Rabim, ” recited in the kinos for the night of Tisha B’Av (leaf 26b). On several leaves, traces of candle wax drippings have been preserved — silent testimony to a Jew who, by that very candle, mourned and wept over the Churban some two hundred and fifty years ago. Amsterdam, 1778. Page Count: [3], 75 leaves (leaf 75 is bound incorrectly). Size : 15.3 cm. Condition : Generally good; the final leaf has been restored at the margins with slight loss to a few letters. Typical signs of use. New binding. Provenance : William Gross Collection, Tel Aviv.
