Amud HaTorah by the Rebbe of Rozdol Printed by His Son-in-Law the Shinover Rebbe Lemberg, 1853. First Edition. * Amud HaTorah contains kabbalistic hints and intentions for reciting the Shema by Rabbi Yehuda Tzvi Eichenstein of Rozdol, son-in-law of the “Sar Beis HaZohar, ” Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Ziditshov. The Rebbe of Sanz described it as “wondrous beyond words.” The sefer was published by the author’s family, led by his distinguished son-in-law, the Admor Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam of Shinova, eldest son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. The Divrei Chaim writes the following to his son in his approbation of the sefer: “Regarding your request that I grant a haskamah for the sefer of your holy father-in-law… Fortunate is one who gains entry to his inner circle… When I heard that you intend to bring it to print – I was delighted, and my heart rejoiced!” At that time, the Shinover Rebbe was about 38 years old and served as the Av Beis Din of Rozdol, as his holy father also describes him in the approbation: “My beloved son… Moreinu Harav Yechezkel, may he live and be well, the Av Beis Din of Rozdol, may Hashem protect him and grant him life.” In a most uncommon manner, the final page contains an extraordinary letter from the author’s wife, the righteous Rebbetzin Sarah, daughter of the Admor Tzvi Hirsch of Ziditshov. In the letter, she describes the efforts undertaken for the printing of the sefer and blesses its buyers: “May the merit of my holy ancestors, and the merit of my husband, the holy Rav of blessed memory, stand for you, to protect you and your offspring forever. May you succeed and be blessed in all your ways, and merit both worlds – Torah and avodah, together with greatness – in one place… Sarah, daughter of the holy Rav… Moreinu Harav Tzvi Hirsch zt”l from Ziditshov.” Another tzaddik who was involved behind the scenes in the printing, although not mentioned by name in the sefer, was Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Weiss of Svaliava, as testified by his nephew, the Rebbe the Imrei Yosef of Spinka, in his haskamah to the sefer Toldos Yitzchak.
