Sur Me’ra Va’aseh Tov – First Edition of the Glosses of the Bnei Yissaschar of Dinov – Lemberg, 1850 * Sefer Hakdamah V’Derech L’Etz HaChaim – known as Sur Me’ra Va’aseh Tov, containing foundations and principles for those starting to study the wisdom of Kabbalah, together with words of inspiration to devote oneself to the Kabbalah of the Arizal, authored by Rabbi Tzvi Hersch of Ziditchov. In this edition, the “Hosafos Mahartza” by Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Shapira of Dinov, author of Bnei Yissaschar, was printed for the first time. He was a disciple of the author in Kabbalah.  In his introduction to the sefer, the Bnei Yissaschar writes with great admiration about the author: “I saw clearly that the Rav’s entire heart and soul were bound up with the holy wisdom of Kabbalah. In our generation, I have scarcely encountered anyone who delved so deeply into this wondrous wisdom as he did… … and his words are the words of the living G-d… inspiring the hearts of those who seek the wisdom of truth.” The Bnei Yissaschar also speaks candidly about his own lifelong yearning for Kabbalah: “From my earliest years of understanding, I was drawn with deep longing to this wisdom… Yet my involvement was always intermittent, with periods of intense engagement followed by withdrawal.” The Hosafos Mahartza were published by the author’s son, Rabbi Shmuel Shapira, who was the son-in-law of Rabbi Tzvi Hersch of Ziditchov. Rabbi Tzvi Hersch of Ziditchov of Dinov, author of Bnei Yissaschar (1783–1841) , was one of the great Rebbes and progenitors of Chassidus. He was known for his remarkable genius and fluency in all realms of Torah and was a prolific writer whose sefarim serve as cornerstones of the Chassidic library. Lemberg, 1850.
