Blessings for Healing in the Handwriting of Rabbi Yeshaya Zilberstein, Av Beis Din of Weitzen – 1907 * A beautiful handwritten and autographed letter by Rabbi Yeshaya Zilberstein, one of the leading poskim of Hungary, who served as Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva in Weitzen (Vác). He writes the following (opening with an acrostic style): “To fulfill the wish of a tzaddik, my dear friend;  I have lifted my voice in song and prayer  on behalf of his wife, the righteous rebbetzin, שתח’,  to Hashem, the Healer, Who heals the sick,  that He send a speedy recovery to Rachel bas Sorrel;  and may it be His will that our prayer be accepted together with the prayers of Klal Yisrael and the tzaddikim,  and may we soon hear good tidings.” He signs: “Your friend who seeks your welfare, Yeshaya Zilberstein.” Rabbi Yeshaya Zilberstein (1857–1930) , son of the Shvilei Dovid, was one of the greatest Torah leaders of Hungary in his time. He became well known for his magnum opus, Maaseh LaMelech, on the Rambam. From a young age, he corresponded in learning with the greatest Torah luminaries of his time, the Maharam Schick and the Ma’aglei Tzedek. He served as the Rav of Weitzen for forty-six years, upholding and strengthening Torah-true Judaism throughout Hungary and beyond and waging a resolute battle against the rising Reform movement.
