Breslov: Kitzur Likkutei Moharan – Printed by Rabbi Nachman of Tulchyn – 1849 * “Who is the wise man?  Let him study this sefer,  And carry it in his pocket,  To study it all the days of his life.  Fortunate is he in this world and the next!”  (Title page) Kitzur Likkutei Moharan is a carefully arranged selection of teachings on mussar, Yiras Shamayim, and proper conduct, compiled by Rabbi Nosson of Breslov from his teacher Rabbi Nachman of Breslov’s Likkutei Moharan. The sefer was first printed in Mohyliv in 1811, and that first edition is exceedingly rare today. Since then, it has been reprinted many times and has remained one of the most widely studied Breslov sefarim. According to Rabbi Nosson Tzvi Koenig in his sefer Neveh Tzaddikim, the present edition was printed by Rabbi Nachman of Tulchyn, the primary disciple of the author, Rabbi Nosson of Breslov (Neveh Tzaddikim, p. 134). Rabbi Nosson explains that the sefer was compiled at Rabbi Nachman’s own instruction, because the entire purpose of the work “was solely for practical application... to open blind eyes... to show people the path they should follow... Everything Rabbi Nachman said to those who came to him was directed toward this single purpose.” (From Rabbi Nosson’s introduction, printed on the reverse of the title page.) Rabbi Nosson began compiling the work during Rabbi Nachman’s lifetime, and Rabbi Nachman himself saw part of the manuscript. The compilation was completed only after his passing. In the introduction, Rabbi Nosson writes: “There is no piece of advice in the world that cannot be found within the holy words of our Rebbe!” Zolkov or Lemberg, 1849 Page Count: [40] leaves.
