Nevi’im and Kesuvim from the Shapira Printing Press, Including Sefer Tehillim! Zhitomir, 1848 * A six-volume edition of Nevi’im and Kesuvim – incomplete (lacking a total of six leaves) – with Targum and Rashi, Metzudas Dovid and Metzudas Tzion, together with a Yiddish translation at the bottom of the pages. Includes the fifth volume containing a complete Sefer Tehillim! This is an important and highly sought-after edition of Nach that was heavily used and is rarely found today. A few leaves are missing. It is offered here for sale because of its importance and exceptional rarity. Tzaddikim were particular to pray from siddurim, machzorim, and Tehillim printed by the Shapira printing press, which were produced with great holiness. This was the first Nach edition printed by the three brothers, the grandsons of Rabbi Moshe Shapira, Rav of Slavita: Rabbi Chanina Lipa, Rabbi Aryeh Leib, and Rabbi Yehoshua Heshel. This edition is known by the title “Kisvei Kodesh, ” and closely resembles some of the Nach editions printed in Slavita under the title “HaMaggid.” Description: Zhitomir, 1848–1849. Six volumes. Because of their constant use, it is very rare to find all six volumes of the Kisvei Kodesh in one place, and a complete set is exceedingly rare. The Institute for Hebrew Bibliography records only Volume IV, while they did not see the other five volumes. The National Library of Israel holds only five of the six volumes, lacking Volume V that contains Tehillim and Mishlei, a volume included in the present set (though missing a few leaves at its end, as noted above).
