The printer's plan was to publish all the volumes of the Talmud in a German translation, for which he even received the consent of the Hatham Sofer after they promised that the commentary would be written by scholars. After that, the Hatam Sofer withdrew his consent after learning that Finer's translation contained heretical words.
The Hatam Sofer told Finer not to use his consent, and since he refused to do so the Hatam Sofer put out a decleration against this edition in Finer's translation.
Finer's work was not completed and the translation was published on Tractate Berakhot only.
Good-moderate condition. not bound. Few moth holes. Light stains of time and moisture. Wear in the pages. Minor tears, and tears in the German title page.
