Manuscript - "Instructions" from the Holy Rebbe of Chernobyl - interesting changes from the printed version
A manuscript (six pages) containing instructions in worship of God by Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl.
These instructions (as well as others that are not in front of us) were printed in the book Likutei Torah [Chernowitz, 1860]. However, the text in the manuscript in front of us is different from the printed one, not only in the style of the language (that is, by correcting the language in the manuscript compared to the printed one or vice versa) but also more significant changes, in a way It seems that we do not have a copy from the book but an original manuscript in its own right. According to the form of the manuscript, it may have been written before the year the book was printed.
Rabbi Mordechai Tversky, the Maggid of Chernobyl (1770 - 1837) was the second rebbe of the Chernobyl Chassidut.
The son of Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Chernobyl, one of the disciples of the Baal Shem Tov and the Magid of Mezritsh and the author of the Ma'or Ainayim.
Rabbi Mordechai married Mrs. Chaya Sarah, daughter of Rabbi Aharon the Great of Karlin. After her death, he married Mrs. Faiga, daughter of Rabbi David Lakes, a student of the Baal Shem Tov.
All of his sons served as rebbes and from them came several branches of Hasidism that today number thousands of Hasidic followers, including Chernobyl, Tolana, Skvere and Rachmistrivka.
His Torah words were published in the book "Likutei Torah" which was printed in several editions.
כתב יד - "הדרכות" מהאדמו"ר הקדוש מטשרנוביל זיע"א - שינויים מעניינים מהנדפס
כתב יד (שישה עמודים) המכיל הדרכות בעבודת ה' מאת הרה"ק רבי מרדכי מטשרנוביל.
הדרכות אלו (וכן אחרות שאינן לפנינו) נדפסו בספר ליקוטי תורה [טשערנוביץ, תר"כ]. אולם הנוסח בכתב היד שלפנינו שונה מהנדפס, לא רק בסגנון הלשון (כלומר בתיקון לשון בכתב היד לעומת הנדפס או להיפך) אלא גם שינויים משמעותיים יותר, באופן שנראה שאין לפנינו העתקה מהספר אלא כתב יד מקורי בפני עצמו. לפי צורת כתב היד יתכן שהוא נכתב לפני שנת הדפסת הספר.
הרה"ק רבי מרדכי טברסקי, המגיד מטשרנוביל; תק"ל, 1770 – תקצ"ז, 1837) היה האדמו"ר השני מחסידות טשרנוביל.
בנו של הרה"ק רבי מנחם נחום מטשרנוביל, מתלמידי הבעל שם טוב והמגיד ממזריטש ובעל ספר מאור עיניים.
רבי מרדכי נשא לאישה את מרת חיה שרה, בתו של הרה"ק ר' אהרן הגדול מקרלין. לאחר פטירתה נשא לאישה את מרת פייגא בתו של הרה"ק דוד לייקס תלמידו של הבעל שם טוב.
כל בניו כיהנו כאדמו"רים ומהם יצאו כמה ענפי חסידות המונים כיום אלפי חסידים, בהם טשרנוביל, טולנה, סקווירא ורחמיסטריווקא.
דברי תורתו התפרסמו בספר "ליקוטי תורה" שנדפס בכמה מהדורות.
