In the introduction to the book, a chilling account of his tribulations during the Holocaust, when five of his sons and his saintly wife were cut off from him - and a long and heartrending account of his miraculous salvation from the death camps, and a bitter lament to the Ribbono Shel Olam, 'Why hast Thou smitten us and there is no healing for us?' However, after that, he justifies the decree with the verse, 'The lord is perfect in His work, for all His ways are just; a God of faithfulness and without iniquity, right and straight is He.' Among the answers, answers posed in the wake of the Holocaust, including a chilling question, whether to give the names of the children who perished on the altar of sanctity to the children born, and whether to name the daughter after the first wife. And answers on the subject of women who did not return from the inferno and whose fate was unknown, whether it was permissible to marry their sister.
