A large collection of over thirty issues of various newspapers - headlines mourning the passing of the Amsterdam Rav, Rabbi Joseph Zvi Diner, and articles in his memory in the years following his demise - Holland-Germany, 1911-1933. A large collection of dozens of issues of Jewish newspapers published throughout Holland and Germany, bearing headlines and articles of mourning for the late Chief Rabbi of Amsterdam, Rabbi Joseph Zvi Diner. Most of the issues in the collection are headlines of mourning at the time of his passing and others from later periods include memorial articles in his honor. A unique collection, also a unique collection of Jewish newspapers published in Amsterdam and Germany, with over twenty different titles! Rabbi Joseph Zvi Diner [12 Tevet 1873 – 23 Tishrei 1912] served as Chief Rabbi of the Amsterdam Jewish community, and headed the Rabbinical Seminary in the city. His ordination was conferred by the Divrei Chaim of Tzanz. He also served as head of the Ashkenazi Beit Midrash Etz Chaim in the city, and was the spiritual leader of Dutch Jewry as a whole. He instituted many reforms in the field of education and religion, and restored and fortified the position of the rabbinate in Amsterdam. Within a few years, his talmidim had taken over all the rabbinate positions in Holland (except Rotterdam), a fact which facilitated his making the changes he desired. He fought to establish a full-time Jewish educational system, rather than relying on the afternoon Hebrew school. אוסף גדול מעל שלושים גיליונות עיתונים שונים - נושאים כותרות אבל על פטירת רבה של אמשטרדם רבי יוסף צבי דינר ומאמרים לזכרו בשנים לארח פטירתו - הולנד-גרמניה, 1911-1933 אוסף גדול של עשרות גיליונות עיתונים יהודיים שהופיעו ברחבי הולנד וגרמניה, נושאים כותרות אבל ומאמרים לזכרו של רבה הראשי של אמשטרדם רבי יוסף צבי דינר. מרבית הגיליונות המופיעים באוסף הם כותרות אבל מזמן פטירתו ואחרים מתקופות מאוחרות יותר כוללים מאמרי זכרון לזכרו. אוסף מיוחד במינו, המהווה גם אוסף ייחודי של עיתונים יהודיים שהופיעו באמשטרדם ובגרמניה כאשר לפנינו למעלה מעשרים סוגי כותרים שונים! הגאון רבי יוסף צבי דינר [י”ב בטבת ה'תקצ”ג – כ”ג בתשרי ה'תרע”ב] כיהן כרבה הראשי של יהדות אמשטרדם, ועמד בראש בית המדרש לרבנים בעיר. הסמכתו לרבנות קיבל מאת בעל הדברי חיים מצאנז. כיהן גם כראש בית המדרש האשכנזי ”עץ חיים” בעיר, והיה למנהיגה הרוחני של יהדות הולנד כולה. תיקן תקנות רבות בתחום החינוך והדת, ושיקם וביצר את מעמד הרבנות באמסטרדם. תוך מספר שנים, תלמידיו תפסו את כל משרות הרבנות בהולנד (למעט רוטרדם), עובדה שהקלה עליו לערוך את השינויים שרצה. הוא נלחם לייסד מערכת חינוך יהודית מלאה, ולא להסתפק בלימוד בבית ספר יהודי אחר-הצהריים.
