The Reform Polemic: The periodical 'Shomer Tziyon HaNe'eman' edited by the author of Aruch LaNer, Rabbi Yaakov Ettlinger, Av Beit Din of Altona - featuring polemics against the spreading Reform movement - two-volume facsimile edition, New York, 1963. The Torah periodical ”Shomer Tziyon HaNe'eman” championed the defense of Orthodox Judaism and the struggle against the Reform movement. It was published as a bi-weekly supplement to the German newspaper Der treue Zions-Wächter, both edited by the author of the Aruch LaNer. The uniqueness of ”Shomer Tziyon HaNe'eman” lies in its role as a pioneer in the genre of Torah periodicals, integrating classical Torah discourse with ideological essays on contemporary issues. The vision of the periodical is reflected in the motto at the head of each issue: ”A publication to raise the horn of the Torah and testimony and to remove the stumbling block from the path of faith... inquiries, novellae and commentaries, responsa, parables and poetic prose.” The periodical was published in Altona, Germany, continuously for a decade, from 1846 to 1856. It was printed bi-weekly as a Hebrew supplement accompanying the general German edition. A total of 222 issues were printed, from the first issue to the final issue, issue 222. Good condition. Preserved leaves. Minor flaws and time marks to the bindings, tear to the spine of one of the volumes. פולמוס הרפורמה: כתב העת 'שומר ציון הנאמן' בעריכת בעל הערוך לנר רבי יעקב עטלינגר אב”ד אלטונה - על גביו התנהלו פולמוסים כנגד רעיון הרפורמה שפשט באותם הימים - מהדורת צילום בשני כרים, ניו יורק, תשכ”ג  כתב העת התורני ”שומר ציון הנאמן” חרת על דגלו את ההגנה על היהדות האורתודוקסית ואת המאבק בתנועה הרפורמית. הוא ראה אור כמוסף דו-שבועי שצורף לעיתון הגרמני Der treue Zions-Wächter, כאשר שני הפרסומים נערכו על ידי בעל ה”ערוך לנר”. ייחודו של ”שומר ציון הנאמן” טמון בהיותו חלוץ בסוגת כתבי העת התורניים, אשר שילבו בין סוגיות תורניות קלאסיות לבין מאמרי השקפה בענייני השעה. חזונו של כתב העת השתקף היטב במוטו שהתנוסס בראש כל גיליון: ”מכתב להרים קרן התורה והתעודה ולהסיר מכשול מדרך האמונה... חקירות, חדושים וביאורים, שאלות ותשובות, משלים ומליצות”. כתב העת ראה אור בעיר אלטונה (Altona, גרמניה) ברציפות במשך עשור, בין השנים תר”ו לתרט”ז (1846–1856). הוא נדפס בתדירות של דו-שבועון כמוסף עברי שצורף למהדורה הכללית בשפה הגרמנית. הודפסו בסך הכל 222 גיליונות, החל מגיליון א' ועד לגיליון החותם, גיליון רכ”ב. מצב טוב. דפים שמורים. פגמים קלים וסימני זמן בכריכות, קרע בשדרת אחד הכרכים.
